Offering aerosolisation control from patient secretions during hospital procedures and improving bag-mask ventilation in bearded and misshapen faces.

Anaesthetist Dr Paul Scott came to Design Momentum wanting to develop a solution for difficult bag-mask ventilation of bearded patients and also address the critical challenge of aerosolisation control from patient secretions during hospital procedures, including Covid-19. 

Our solution was a universal fitting silicone shield that not only addresses the intended critical needs identified by Paul, but also provides a cost effective platform able to accommodate a series of existing air management products currently used in various procedural requirements.

Scott Airway Management (SAM) and the SAM Safety Shield has already been well received within hospitals and ismaking great inroads into improving patient ventilation and reducing viral transmission between patient and surgical staff. SAM now have several other new products currently in development with Design Momentum.
